Re: 'Secretly' charting, any suggestions?From: Fadette (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 16 Mar 2002 19:54:35 -0600 (CST)
I don't have too much time to be old-fashioned. I'm 37. If anything goes wrong, I'll need the charts. If things work out, they won't hurt, I guess. Now, once I start charting, I suspect it will take me at least one cycle to get into the routine. Maybe two. Then, you need at least 6 months of charting. So, if I wait for my husbant to graduate, then TTC for several months, then realize it's not working, go to an RE, who'll ask me to start charting... then wait another 8 months to get 6 months of good charting... My plan is to start charting now. By the time he graduates and we're ready to drop the birth control, I'll probably get so used to charting, it will feel just as natural as brushing my teeth in the morning. Once we start TTC, I will share the charts with my ob. And if nothing happens in 6 months, I'll go to an RE, armed with a pile of charts. Another thing, charting can help me as birth control now. We're using condoms, except for the last 5 days before my period (my cycle is consistently 24-27 days, so we know those 5 days are "safe"). Charting might add another "safe" day or two.
