>I am >>thinking now gosh can't we ladies refuse anything nowadays that we don't >>want done or stuck up there. Later thinking about this it was presented >>to me like it was not an option to say no thanks. >> You always have the right to refuse any test or treatment. This is your choice. Of course, your caregiver may decide that they dont feel they can work with you if you refuse something they feel absolutely imperitive, but it is your body, you are paying for the test. This is something that would warrant, should you feel inclined to decline a test or proceedure, that you have a frank talk with your doctor or midwife. Thell them WHY you dont want it, ask WHY they do and see if together you cant come to some kind of agreement. It *may* be that after it is explaine dto you you do not have the objections that you did in the beginning. It may be that the doctor has this on his list of standard proceedures but, considering your situation may agree it is not necessary. I have been on both sides of the issue...a caregiver wanting a test done that the patient, for whatever reason didnt and the patient who opted to decline a test my doctor would have prefered I do. It is usually resolved with honest and frank discussion.
