Really this is routine now? it is part of the recommended prenatal panel. Docs (and moms and baies) have gotten burned by assuming that thier "nice" patients won't have STDs. Sometimes the women is the victim of a cheating spouse; sometimes she is the one having a little hanky panky on the side -- but in any event, it is not safe to assume.
