3 swabs today 35 weeks Questions??From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 15 Mar 2002 19:36:11 -0600 (CST)
After I left my exam today I thought to myself I should have found out why 2 of these swabs were being done to me. It was alot to do in one exam on top of an internal as well. One swab was done vaginally for GBS check which I expected but not this week of pregnancy. The next swab vaginally was for "chlamydia". What the heck does that have to be done for? I am over 30 and only had one partner all my life. I have never had any unusual discharge or reason to suspect anything has ever been wrong. The nurse when she told me I was having this done said that the check was not done at the beginning of my pregnancy and its routine to check all pregnant ladies for this and my test just got overlooked earlier and not done. Really this is routine now? I am thinking now gosh can't we ladies refuse anything nowadays that we don't want done or stuck up there. Later thinking about this it was presented to me like it was not an option to say no thanks. Finally the Dr stuck some swab stick into my anus. NEVER in 6 pregnancies have I ever has an anus swipe what would that swab have been for?
