Risks of overweight diabetics getting pregnant

I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes Nov 2001. I am overweight also by 80 pds. My husband and I are thinking of trying for a second baby, we have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. I have been reading up on the risks and they seem to be even higher for diabetics who are heavy, I know I would have to control my sugars very close...my other problem is I am a compulsive overeater...could I have anymore problems???lol so I am not totally positive I could control my sugars to the extent they would need to be controlled if I got pregnant.

I guess I am looking for validation or something, should I risk a babies life or my life just so we can have another baby Or should we just be thankful we have a healthy little girl already and work on making my self healthy and maybe down the road...but not too far I will be 36 this year...have another, this is tearing me up emotionally

I would love to hear your advice or maybe someone could point me in a direction to gather more information about women with diabetes and getting pregnant. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to talk to a high risk ob but couldn't wait.

thanks Shannon
