I was diagnosed with CREST syndrome which is a form of Scleroderma. My case is mild, and I have seen several MD's for it, even going to John's Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. My husband and I would like to have another child and Dr's are agreeable, but they advise I continue with a High-risk OB. My current OB/GYN can treat a high-risk pregnancy, but he isn't familiar with the disease (as are most MD's when it comes to pregnancy related issues). I would feel better consulting with a specialist in this area. The only doctor recommended by my OB was in New York City. While I wouldn't mind a consult there, I don't want the schlep should I find I need to continue with the specialist. I am in mid Nassau County and would travel to Queeens or Suffolk Cnty. Any referrals, either from a patient or physician would be appreciated. A web site to search names on also appreciated (ABOG didn't help). AND, anyone else out there with either Scleroderma or CREST is WELCOME to write back. (Regardless of age) Thank you.
