It is quite possible to describe the desire to have children as selfish, especially in an overpopulated world. I don't want to start a flame war. But I just wanted to point out that ANY decision can be viewed as selfish - by choosing a different angle: People who choose not to have clidren (see http://www.childfree.com) claim that all reasons to have children are selfish. On the other hand, people with children claim that people who don't want children are selfish. It's all a matter of perspective.
