Implantation bleeding/spotting?From: Craig (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Feb 2002 22:18:49 -0600 (CST)
My question is as follows: my girlfriend normally has her period on the first of every month and goes for 28 days. We are fairly inexperienced, and though we've had intercourse up to a dozen times before, there was a lot of blood on the 14th; like her hymen finally broke. (this also seems to be where ovulation would be happening?) Her period was due today (the 28th) but hasn't came yet. However, what we are asking - when we had intercourse this past weekend (the 23rd) there was blood - a little, old (brownish - it could of been tissue, also) and new. There was not a large amount of blood. The next day there was quite a strong odor during intercourse (no blood though) that I noticed a change. It was not a large amount. She has complained of sensitive breasts, had a weird food craving and is urinating frequently and has nausea. I have a nagging sense she might be pregnant; but we're away and she's unwilling to take a test by herself. She is 18 and under a lot of stress and has a stomach ulcer. I tried to provide as MUCH information as possible. My question is - do you think the blood we encountered was trauma/left over hymen or could it have been implantation bleeding? And what would explain the stronger odor during intercourse the next day?
