clomid and short surge, something to consider...

I have read that sometimes clomid can cause a shorter lh surge and thus cause women to miss the surge on an opk. I have also noticed through reading the archives that there are many women on this board who ovulate without clomid and always detect a surge in non-clomid cycles, and yet they are unable to detect the surge during clomid cycles.

These women also indicate that they have a bbt shift and some indicate a positive day 21 progesterone test during clomid cycles. Maybe they don't detect a surge because of this short surge thing. I have read about this in 2 different sources but it is only briefly mentioned. I really think there is something to this. It would explain why women who ovulate normally on their own are not detecting the surge during clomid cycles. At first I thought that somehow clomid suppressed LH in some women but that doesn't make sense. Then I came upon this theory about the short surge which DOES make sense. It explains why all signs of ovulation are apparent except for the surge in some women's clomid cycles. I understand that not everyone experiences this but through the testimonials on this board it seems it happens to a significant number. I am not asking anyone wether or not they think I've ovulated but rather does any of this ring a bell? has anyone seen research on this? Sorry to go on but I think it is important for women who take clomid to know this is a possibility.

Thank you, Victoria
