dropping progesterone levels in early pregnancyFrom: Stephanie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Feb 2002 11:38:27 -0600 (CST)
Dear Doctors, I'm nervous because I had miscarriage a few months ago at approximately 10 weeks. I had a D&E because the ultrasound showed only an empty sac. (I am 36 years old. I have had one other miscarriage seven years ago and, afterwards, a successful pregnancy with twins. I was using clomid then.) We skipped a month and tried again. At 9 days post ovulation I had a blood test with an hcg result of 14 and a progesterone result of 22. I took another blood test at 23 days post ovulation. The hcg level was 9,318 but the progesterone was down to 10.9. The nurse practitioner put me on prometrium. My question is: What are the chances that this pregnancy will succeed? What do you think about taking the prometrium? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks so much for your help!!! -Stephanie
