Short surge on clomid?

I've read that clomid can cause a short lh surge and that a half dark line on opk while taking clomid can sometimes qualify as a surge. I ovulate without clomid and always detect a clear surge at exactly the same time(day 13 of 26 day cycle) I then have a definate shift the next day. On all 3 clomid cycles I have only had a half dark opk and then a shift. Can anyone tell me what they know about this and why it occurs? I'm trying to figure this out so I don't waste my clomid cycles. Victoria
