Breast feeding question for the midwivesFrom: Nora (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Feb 2002 09:01:47 -0600 (CST)
Good morning, I was just reading a post about breast reduction and breast feeding and it brought up a few questions of my own. Currently I am under the care of a CNM for this preganancy (which is at week 38 and hopefully will produce a baby soon!) Anyway, I have had a breast reduction (ten years ago) and wasn't sure if I would be able to breast feed. I saw a lactation counselor a couple weeks ago and we were able to express colostrum from both breasts which led me to believe that everything would work just fine because clearly I could produce something. I was under the impression, however, that it was sort of an all or nothing kind of thing- could it be that even if I can express some amount of colostrum and eventually milk, it may not be enough to feed my baby? I appreciate your responses and thank you for your time. Nora
