Checked archives and still curious re: safe antidepressents for pg AND breastfeeding

Hello,

I have been treated in the past for major depressive disorder that was largely situational (following job loss, divorce etc). My depression was improving prior to this pregnancy, however now, at 31 weeks, I am beginning to experience some return of symptoms. I have taken 100 mg of Wellbutrin successfully, but stopped before becoming pregnant. Prior to that, Zoloft, which was not as effective. I have read numerous postings in the archives about the use of antidepressents during pregnancy, and have noted that Wellbutrin seems to be ok during pregnancy but is not recommended for breastfeeding. Since I am only 8-9 weeks away from my due date, I wouldn't want to start taking a med only to discontinue it again right away. If necessary, I can just try to go without meds for several months after birth so I can breastfeed for a while. But I'm wondering whether there are any meds out there that have been proven safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Thanks Amanda
