I was wondering, if I wanted to get my cervix checked out, is it "safer" to have my dr. to an abdominal u/s vs. an internal check?

I am 23 weeks, and don't want to have any complications from such a check.

I realize the ab u/s isn't completely accurate for a cervical check, but it should tell something, right?
