MD please-Do twins measure smaller?From: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Feb 2002 21:35:27 -0600 (CST)
I miscarried at the end of November. Two weeks ago we had a sono and the result was 1 strong heart beat, gestational age of 6 weeks 6 days. Today, we went for another sono due to faint spotting over the weekend. They found a second pole, a twin? The sacs were identicle in size, however, the tech stated she thought she only saw one heart beat strong and visible. Today, the tech gave the age only 6 weeks 5 days, they should have been 8 weeks 4 days. Why the degretion in size, and only one heart beat? Is it true that the twins combined could have appeared to be one fetus during the first sono, and is it possible the other heart beat was not clearly visible to the tech, but may still be there? Do twins measure smaller on sonos? Thank you
