Detecting embryo in early ultrasound

I was wondering what the earliest you can see the location of the embryo. I had a stillbirth in 2000 and a ectopic last November. I had to have surgery, but they didn't have to remove the tube. I know that my chances are higher for another ectopic. When is the earliest we can tell if it is ectopic or if it is implanted in the uterus?
