You're probably not going to want to hear this, but with my first baby, I was dilated to 3, and effaced 80% by 36 weeks. Baby was born at 40 weeks on the dot. My last two babies were induced, at 37 weeks, but I was at 3cm by 34 weeks, and was still "hanging in there" at 37 weeks. But I have friends who find out that they are 3 cm, and have the baby that night. There's just no way to predict this sort of thing- just take long walks, use gravity for all its worth to get that baby's head pressing on that cervix, and hopefully, sooner rather than later, it'll be a go....
