Dr. Wang - Could you clarify your answer about GD? (repost)From: jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 Feb 2002 23:58:40 -0600 (CST)
Hi Dr. Wang, I was doing a search of the archives and came across an answer you gave to someone about GD. Here is the original question (edited for space) and your reply: >>At Mon, 10 Sep 2001, Cindy wrote: > >>Is this true does GD peak around the 35th week and start to normalize. >>For some reason I thought it just got worse as you progress and didn't >>start geting better until after the baby was born.
>It varies form person to person. The concern should develop when insulin The reason I am curious is I am 35 weeks pg with GD and I am taking 2.5 mg of glyburide daily. My doctor is not offering me any NSTs or additional u/s so making sure that my baby is okay is all in my own hands (by doing kick counts). My doctor will not induce me early although she will not let me go past my due date. I measured 33cm at 34 weeks, weight gain is good (25 lbs.), bp is low (110/60) and my doctor says that based on her experience of guessing a baby's weight by palpating my uterus, my baby seems average and she does not think will weigh much more than my first daughter who was born 7 lbs. 6 oz. at 40+weeks (my doctor guessed 7.5 lbs. with her so she was pretty accurate). So if I start seeing low or normal readings on my glucometer when they should be high (due to cheating on the diet), could this signal a red flag? Thanks in advance!
