Re: Playing Volleyball.From: Lynn D. Montgomery, MD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 6 Feb 2002 11:03:26 -0600 (CST)
Kirsty, Your question prompts a memory I have to share. My wife is a college volleyball coach. Several years ago, her team was playing in a tourney, on the road, against a California team with a very talented player. Upon returning from this tourney, the primary subject of discussion was how "fat" this particular player on the California team had gotten. Now frame shift several weeks to the end of the season, at the national championships. My wife's team was to play this same California team. I show up for the pregame warm-ups and immediately note this particular player, who by my estimation is about 5 months pregnant. I motion for my wife and her coaching staff to come over and inform them that this particular player is not "fat", but rather quite pregnant. Needless to say, they were all astonished. This player played the entire match and very well at that. I don't see any problems with your continued play, as long as it is something you have been doing prior to becoming pregnant. When it becomes uncomfortable for you, then it is time to stop... Lynn
