In general, if your wife would abort a DS baby, then definitely an amnio is a good idea. If not, it may also be a good idea. I would like to know if the baby has DS because it might make a diference in the management of labor and delivery. Whether or nto someone gets an amnio done is a very personal thing based on religious, social, cultural, and theological considerations.
