HCG levels can detect sex of baby on 1st Dr. visit?

I heard on the news last nite that Dr.'s are working on a way to detect the sex of a baby on the first Dr.'s visit by calculating HCG levels in the pregnancy. They state the higher the HCG on the first visit then it's most likely a girl, and the lower the level then it's most likely a boy. Have any of you out there heard of this? I'm just curious....I don't see how this is possible. Thanks for the replies!
