Ultrasound QuestionFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Jan 2002 17:04:58 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I am seven weeks pregnant with my first child. I went for an ultrasound today and the heart was beating away, which was good. However, the dr. noticed a blob of material attached to the fetus. It didn't have blood running through it or a heartbeat, so it isn't another baby. She said it could have started to develop into a twin but didn't make it. I'm going back to get it checked again in 3-4 weeks. My question is, how common is this, and will it go away on its own? What could it be, besides the beginnings of a twin that didn't work out? I am worried that my baby will be born with some big cycst or growth on him/her. Any info. you could give me would be great. Thanks!
