Klonopin and pregnancy ...

I am working very hard with my doc to change the med's I am on that are not safe while ttc and during pregnancy. I still have one more change to make and that is getting off of the Klonopin. I was just searching the archives to this forum and found 2 different post's, both by doc's of this forum and that were the total oppostite. One doc said it can cause cleft lip, cleft palett(?) and possible limb abdnormalities, whereas, the other doc said there is no evidence indicating any problems. How can 2 doc's from the same forum have such a difference of opinion? I am absolutely terrified of the withdrawl symptoms, as I have heard such horror stories and do not wish to go through terrifying panic attacks again after being free from them for so many years. But I also don't wish to cause my baby any birth defects if I get pg. Is there a "well known" safe alternative to Klonopin? If so, do you have to wean off of the Klonopin 1st or can you do a direct change?

Scared beyond words ...
