Re: Prodromal Labor?

I was diagnosed with prodromal labor when I was pg with my first and there are a lot of similarities between your situation and mine.

At 36 weeks, I was also dilated to 2cm and about 50-75% effaced. I was having contractions, some as close as 3-5 minutes apart for hours on end. I lost my mucus plug and was having bloody show.

However, this was all considerend FALSE labor, not prodromal labor. My prodromal labor started 3 days past my dd's due date when I would not dilate past 3cm because dd was posterior. My contractions were regular coming every 5 minutes all in my back for 48 hours straight. Finally, I agreed to be induced with pitocin and I ended up delivering a posterior baby (all without an epidural). I think the prodromal labor was caused by my body trying to wait to see if my baby would turn, which she never did.

It sounds to me like you are still having false labor, especially since your contractions are still irregular, and I don't think you could be having prodromal labor yet. If you stop taking the herbs and the contractions stop, then it is most likely false labor you're experiencing and you're just making yourself physically and mentally exhausted by trying to speed things along. It's also possible that your body is trying to tell you something, maybe your baby is not ready yet!

Good luck and I hope you get some rest soon!
