Re: Prodromal Labor?From: Jessica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 17 Jan 2002 09:08:59 -0600 (CST)
You are only 36 weeks along- I'm not sure an MD would feel comfortable progressing your labor at that point, because there's no guarantee of lung maturity at this point. Most MDs I know, if you had shown up irregularly contracting with no real progress would have sent you home, after checkiong to make sure that all was well with baby. Why are you pushing labor along so early? With the cohosh and the raspberry leaf tea- herbal remedies aren't without their side effects and possible problems, and you are still what would be considered preterm. I would really consider that perhaps all the raspberry tea, as well as the cohosh is what is causing your discomfort, and maybe you aren't progressing because you aren't ready to have that baby yet. Many women walk around much further advanced in dilation and effacement (I always have) without being actually ready to have the baby at 36 weeks. Please take care. I mean no disrespect, I'm just concerned that you may be attempting to push things along with the herbs that don't need to be pushed along.
