Prodromal Labor?

I am 36 weeks pregnant. For 2 days have had what I believe to be prodromal labor..

I was contracting every 3-5 minutes but cervix only changed to 3cm from 2 cm..still only 1cm inside..I had been 25% effaced at my 33 week visit with baby at -1 station. She didnt mention anything to me when I was checked 2 days ago.

She sent me home with orders to take a hot bath, have a glass of wine.

It slowed things enough for me to sleep through the night (although that couldve been because of the wine) with hopes that it would stop.

Well, yesterday I continued to have irregular contractions all day...a lot of cramping, back pain.. some blood tinged mucus..I believe to be my "plug". I have diarrhea..but have been drinking LOADS of raspberry leaf tea and water.

I woke up on day 3 with a bout of diarrhea..I have decreased appetite but am forcing myself to eat...contractions still crampy but irregular. I havent been checked in 2 days.

I see a midwife and was wondering if my cervix is making small but progressive changes..would they be receptive to stripping or rupturing my membranes?

I know that if I were working with an MD I wouldve been admittied 2 days ago..and when things slowed down..I wouldve been advanced with prostaglandin and Pitocin and in all likelihood would be holding my daughter now! Its very frustrating for me when I know that if my water were to break thngs would move rapidly as did with my other births.

I tend to have a really long latent phase..but it really exhausts me. Blue and Black cohosh did nothing for me but make me sick...and I dont want to do castor oil as I am already having diarrhea.

Your thoughts?
