Like you, I started out about 20 pounds overweight. My first movements were more like sharp, slightly painful twinges too. This was all I felt for about 3 weeks or so- it's only been the last week or two that I feel anything resembling a real kick. In my case, it's compounded by the fact that I have an anterior placenta, which means that I won't feel a lot of the baby's movements as easily.
