Dear Doctor: My periods are very regular. In December, the week before I was due, I had a small cramp -then an hour later some spotting. Then no bleeding for two days. On the third day, a small cramp, then immediately after - some spotting. Then no bleeding for 3 days. I was sure I was pregnant! I had all the other symptoms. I took a urine test at home and at the doctor (all 2 days before I was due)both turned up negative. Then on the day I was supposed to start - I started but it only lasted for 3 days instead of my usual 7. Since then my whole lower abdomen area has been tender to the touch, hard and a little swollen looking (my stomach is usually flat!). My breasts are sore, and I cry at the drop of a hat. Could this be some kind of infection or is a pregnancy still possible considering that I did bleed very heavily for three days?
