Re: HCG #'s MORE than doubling, I'm concerned..From: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 11 Jan 2002 13:45:43 -0600 (CST)
Lizabeth, I know EXACTLY where you are coming from. At the start of this pregnancy, 13 days past ovulation, my bHCG was 64. At 15 dpo it came back at 1300. I completely freaked out! When I posted to this forum Dr Wang wrote back that it could be normal, could be multiples or it could also indicate a molar pregnancy. Needless to say, that sent me into hysterics. However, neither of my two m/w offices were concerned at all. And, as it turns out, the lab made a mistake and the official counts were 64 and 230. But the m/w office said that there is often a big gap in figures and even if there hadn't been a lab error it was still nothing to be concerned about (I'm now in my 25th week). Check out the site http://www.paternityangel.com - they have a great article about the variations in bHCG results. In another week your OB should be able to see the pregnancy via ultrasound, and that should answer a lot of questions. I was told that symptoms of a molar pregnancy include bleeding and EXTREME sickness, neither of which you mentioned. I don't know much about injectibles, but I do know that they carry an increase of multiples - perhaps you are just doubly (or, gulp, triply!) blessed. In anycase, try not to stress too much about it, just take care of yourself and ask for a confirmation u/s next week.
