Dr. Montgomery - another follow-up on endometrial biopsy issueFrom: Alison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Jan 2002 06:54:45 -0600 (CST)
Hi, Dr. Montgomery. Thank you for your responses to my questions. I was reading your post to the veterinarian and now I am somewhat concerned that this biopsy may be being done unnecessarily. I had a day 23 progesterone test done last month which was normal. I ovulate on day 13-14 of my cycle every month according to my fertility monitor, and conceived twice within 8 months this year at the age of 40, so it's pretty clear I'm ovulating (I'm seeing the RE for recurrent m/cs). I am concerned that some of the testing (including the emb and the hysteroscopy) may not be necessary. I have 2 healthy kids, ages 4 and 6. One m/c was a blighted ovum (only a sac seen at 9w) and the other m/c was a missed m/c diagnosed at 12 wks after seeing a h/b at 8w6d. To me (tho' I'm no dr), these facts would seem to indicate age-related chromosomal problems. Do you think this RE is overdoing it? She has great credentials (she is a professor at Harvard Medical School), but I am concerned. Thank you, Alison
