question about dilationFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 5 Jan 2002 15:26:52 -0600 (CST)
Yesterday was my due date. Obviously I am ready to have this baby (hopefully a VBAC), but don't want to be induced unless I really need to. My doctor said that I am about 1cm and 50% effaced (as of last week) and soft. She said the only thing yet to progress is that the baby is still at about -3 station. How much effect does the baby's head pressing on the cervix have on dilation? Since my baby's head is still high, could that mean that I will never go into labor on my own? I know I am not that overdue, but I find I am always thinking about is having this baby. I'm sure this is only going to get worse as time progresses. Can anxiety delay labor? Are some women just prone to longer pregnancies?
