UTI and treatmentFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 1 Jan 2002 15:55:36 -0600 (CST)
I posted earlier about having a uti at 15 weeks, and the antibiotics first chosen didn't seem to work. He now put me on Ceftin 250 bid for 7 days. Is that dose strong enough for enterobacter and not e-coli? Also, this has been going on for 3+ weeks now. Am I harming the baby by all of this trial and error? Would it be better to take Cipro for 3 days even though it is a category C since it would almost definitely work? Or, since we are using trying some drugs is this better than doing nothing at all? The first urine culture only showed 10-50,000, but the other day, the dr. said my urine looked worse. But since it started out as a borderline infection does that mean I still have time before pyelo or prom is a danger? How many days should you give an antibiotic to work before checking the urine again. I have taken 2 doses, and almost feel worse. Thanks for your help.
