Re: Amniotic fluid levels?

I also had the same type of drop around 3 weeks before my due date. They scheduled ultrasounds for me twice a week to monitor the amniotic fluid levels. ONe thing I noticed is that the fluid level varied depending on what time of day it was, etc. One day I had a drop and then 2 or 3 days later a rise back up to normal. It eventually got to what my OB called "critcal" meaning that the fluid level had dropped to the point where they needed to induce the labor. What they most likely will do with you is monitor your levels, if they continue to decline or appear that they have reached "critical" they will probably consider an induction. When they induced Kayla I had a fluid level of 4.7. She was born healthy with the only issue being very dry hands and feet. So, tell your dh that as long as you are being monitored there really isn't a reason to worry. The levels fluctuate and they could even go back up. One more thing when they do the ultrasound for the afi I was told if the bladder is full they cannot count that even though what's in the bladder is amniotic fluid. Sometimes that is a reason for lower levels. I know my daughter had a full bladder during one of the counts too. Hope this helps and I hope you deliver soon!
