Please set my mind at ease even if my question seems silly

Hello and good evening. In one way i am very proud of myself and honored to be a part of this board, for if it werent for this board i would have never known about ureaplasma. I have had 2 UTI's and one m/c all within a few months of each other. I went to my doctor and asked for a ureaplasma test and they said they had never tested anyone for it before, but they would for me since i had asked, and it came back positive. Mycoplasma came back negative. Anyway my husband and i have a tetracycline (symycin for me, im a liquid girl lol) RX for 500mg 3 times a day for 7 days. Well herein lies my problem, my father recently had a life threatening reaction to penicillin,(his GP gave it to him for canker sores!) and i am embarrassed to admit i am afraid to take this medication. What is the liklihood of a bad reaction from tetracycline? Over the years I have had erythomyacin, amoxicillin, keflex, all with no problems. But for the fact of my father's situation recently i wouldve never given this tetracycline a thought whatsoever. Is this high dosage a problem and are the risks with this tetracycline less than say with penicillin? As soon as i get an answer i will muster up the courage to take this. :) I know, im a goon. But i am sincerely honored to be here, ann
