Is 5 mm considered nuchal thickness?From: Abbey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 14 Dec 2001 12:15:52 -0600 (CST)
My 19-week screening US showed a nuchal thickness of 5 mm. Doc didn't seem too concerned, but I'm very worried about Down's because my HCG 2.2 MOM, estriol 0.84, though AFP was higher at 2.1. Overall the triple screen was negative and gave me a lower-than-average risk for my age (31). However, I'm concerned because of the nuchal fold thickness-apparently, that raises my risk of Down's by a factor of 28. Should I get a Level II U/S or amnio at this point? How many babies with a 5 mm nuchal fold thickness turn out not to have Down's? Please help- I'm worried out of my mind!
