That's a don't know that all of us obstetricians have. We recheck the blood pressure when the patient is lying down, especially with the left side elevated, but that is not how our patients live their lives, and therefore a sitting or standing blood pressures probably more accurate. An indication for cessation section is for either fetal distress, failed induction. You blood pressure can be elevated and still achieve a vaginal delivery, as long as your cervix changes in the baby does come down. >
