Old wives' tale or truth?

I know this probably is old wives' tale but I still want to make sure. Will having very cold/icey drinks or washing clothes in very freezing water cause miscarriage? The reason behind this maybe that it could stimulate the uterus to contract. I would think that very hot drink may cause a problem if it raises the body temperature. Am I right? Thanks a lot!
