Should I have Testing After 2nd M/C?From: Alison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 4 Dec 2001 16:25:34 -0600 (CST)
I am 40 years old and have two children, born 12/12/95 and 11/16/97. I had a missed m/c (d&c) on 4/27/01 at 12 wks after seeing a h/b at 8w3d. I had another m/c (no d&c) on 11/5; u/s was done because of spotting and showed a sac but no fetal pole at 9wks, and I m/c'd shortly thereafter. My dr (who is a family practitioner) wants to refer me to a RE for tests. Here is my question: It is my understanding that causes are found in only 30% of recurrent m/c. Given that I have two healthy children (my pgs with them were trouble-free), is testing worthwhile? Or should I just assume it is age-related given that I am 40 and give it one more shot? Thanks for your input. Alison
