It was my first surgery aswell. The procedure was a wonderful experience! I had a spinal and it was terrific. I felt no pain whatsoever. My doctor held my hand as they got me prepped. The assistant doctor was talking to me during the procedure and we were joking around. The spinal had a drug called Duramorph in it which gives pain relief for about 24 hours. My abdomen hurt quite a bit (when I would move only) after everything wore off but the worst of it was over in a few days. I was given adequate pain killers. Try to relax (I know easier said than done) Go into it with a good attitude, it makes things a lot easier. Trust me it's not that bad!!!
