Stopping Progesterone

From: Jeri (anonymous@obgyn.net)

I have been taking progesterone vaginal suppositories 100 mg 2x a day. My RE said I could stop taking it at 10 weeks because the placenta takes over. I bargained with my OB and got him to allow me to take it til 12 weeks. (I have had previous early m/c's).

My question is, am I supposed to stop cold turkey?

Are there any symptoms or lack of symptoms I will feel when I stop?

And, if I have had excellent u/s's thus far, can I be assured that the placenta has taken over? I am 11 weeks now.

Is there any reason to be afraid that this will lead to the demise of this fetus or that I will start bleeding?

Thank you, Jeri
