>OK, this is my last reply...I promise. I must say, I'm surprised with your statement that withdrawal failure rate is 70%. I have read many, many resources which put it at between 19%-25% during the first year of typical use. About the same as the ovulation method. These resources include Planned Parenthood, the book "Contraceptive Technology" and folsomobgyn.com among others. What prompted me to ask the original question was the certainty the nurse seemed to have dating conception on Oct. 18...the day we used withdrawal. I also read a study by the U.S. Nat'l Institute of Environmental Health Sciences which says that only 30% of women are fertile only between days 10 and 17 of their menstrual cycles. I guess what I really wanted was an opinion from an expert in the field of fertility as to which date he/she thought most likely for conception to occurr - taking into account the withdrawal method used on Oct. 18. I guess I feel like it couldn't have been from that intercourse, but I wanted to know how likely the other dates were. Thanks again...and I promise, no more...
