bp questionFrom: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Nov 2001 16:09:39 -0600 (CST)
I was wonderng what effect blood pressure that goes up and down has on a baby. I'm starting to get very worried. I'm 38wks pg and for the past few days my bp has been bouncing around. I've been on bedrest for 3wks due to mild pre-eclampsia. Wednesday I got up to get my lunch, and as I was eating, I got cold sweats and felt very strange. I took my bp and it was 146/100. I called my dr and they had me lie down on my left side for an hour and call them back. It went to 152/90. They had me come in. My dr had me lay in a dark room for about 45 minutes and when she checked my bp is was very low - 110/70. I've noticed that if I do anything, the bottom number of my bp goes up into the 90s. I'm worried about what this is doing to my baby. I know I'm on bedrest, but I still need to get up and use the bathroom and get food and drink. I'm glad that my bp goes down when I'm laying in a dark room, but how accurate is that, since the only time I'm in a dark room is at the drs office? I go back to the dr on Monday and will be taking it very easy this weekend. (My husband is not working, so he'll be around to take care of me.) It doesn't seem like it can be a good thing for the baby, for me to have the inconsistent bp. What do you think? I appreciate your time.
