cerclage/hsv2From: karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Nov 2001 11:02:15 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I am 26 weeks pregnant & have had genital herpes for over 10 years. I had a cerclage (stitch) placed in my cervix 5 weeks ago for incompetant cervix. I noticed a herpes lesion the same night of the surgery, which means HSV was active when the procedure was done. I am worried that the baby could have been infected with herpes during the cerclage placement. Does the bag of water offer any protection to the fetus? The cerclage also dislodged my mucous plug (doc verified this and said it was normal). Could my baby have gotten herpes in the womb this way? I am terrified & can't even sleep.
