IUFD of twin 1 at approx 19 wksFrom: Kylie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 26 Nov 2001 13:53:11 -0600 (CST)
My 1st U/S discovered twins at 18wks, everything looked fine but could not see if a membrane was between them or not so I had to return in 2-3wks, 17 days later at 2nd U/S twin 1 had died approx 2wks prior. Blood test taken at 18wks (day of 1st U/S) showed high risk for Neural Tube Defects (even for twins), but Dr says it is because 1 was dying not necessarily a problem with the babies as twin 2 is very healthy. I had a lot of nausea and didn't eat or drink a lot, I had a lot of headaches but managed to look after other 3 children. I have since read you are supposed to drink plenty of fluids with twins and I just drank normally as it was middle of winter and I didn't know it was twins. I just need to know what happened to my baby, I feel I caused this. I also had slight spotting at 11wks, could this have meant something was not quite right or do you think it was a hydrated or a nutritional deficiency which caused the death of my baby?
