Well, I would imagine that in the same way that our own heart rates are not consistent throughout the day, the same would go for the baby's. 140-155 is still within the normal range, so I really wouldn't worry. Also, if you're using one of the doppler's with the digital readout of the heart rate, be aware that they change constantly. I have been using mine, and seen the readout go from 155 to 160 to 177 in the space of 30 seconds. So I don't take too much stock in the digital readout.
