22 weeks and on niphedipineFrom: Shelly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Nov 2001 14:46:10 -0600 (CST)
My first pregnancy had me effaced and contracting at 29 weeks and on bedrest. At 31 weeks i went into labor which was stopped and I was hospitalized and on niphedipine for a month and gave birth at 36 weeks. I am now 22 weeks pregnant and already on the pills due to consistant atrong contractions. I am on partial bedrest and drinking 3liters of water a day. I have spoken to other doctors who say they dont believe in niphedipine. My doctor says since it worked the first time we'll try it again, but she doesnt know that intercourse when I got home from the hospital is what put me into final labor - maybe it wasnt just that I went off the pills... (what part of intercourse is it that can cause problems...it hasnbt as of yet) Is niphedipine a commonly used drug for such problems? Is there anyting else you suggest I can do to stop contractions? Being so early now I am very concerned. Thanks.
