Re: Heard heartbeat and internal exam

Hi there - I'm not a doc but I posted a similar question when I was 9 weeks along (now 17) and here's what I learned:

According to Dr. Wang on this forum, chances of m/c at your stage are less than 10%. BUT, when I was in ER (I had a little spotting at 9 weeks), the ER doc saw the fetus on u/s and h/b looked great, and he told me that chances of m/c were "less than 5% - closer to 3%." I actually had two light brown spotting episodes, one at 7 weeks, and than at 9, and all looks great now.

As for spotting after a pap, again, I'm no doc, but my ob said yes, absolutely you can spot after an internal at that point. In fact, after I was examined in the er at 9 weeks, the next day I had a lot of spotting, and it cleared up in 24 hours. As I'm sure you've heard 100 times, your cervix is very sensitive and has a lot more blood flowing through it, and it can bleed as a result of sex, exams etc - sometimes all the way through pg (according to my ob). Anyway, I hope this helps - Good luck to you!
