fifth diseaseFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 14 Nov 2001 14:55:05 -0600 (CST)
I am 25 weeks pregnant after 3 m/c. I was at a birthday party on Sun where I found our afterwards one of the kids had fifth disease. Apparently the kid had already been treated with medication and was off school for a few days that week but apparently had been back at school since. She was coughing at the party and the day before had a fever. Other kids at the party were exposed to here prior to diagnosis. I have since had an Ig and Im bloodtest. I don't know if I am immune. My questions are: Can this be treated with medication? If so what? And what are the risks of this in pregnancy? Could the child still have been contagious? Thanks so much. You have been very helpful to me in the past.
