Re: Implantation ? anovulatory...Plz reply...very curiousFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Oct 2001 15:50:25 -0600 (CST)
Dr. Montgomery, you might be interested in some of the pregnancy charts that are posted at various sites or in the TCOYF book, example : http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ChartGallery/prego4.html In these charts the lows and highs are clearly differentiated, but by a range of .4 up to 1 degree. I don't think I've ever seen a chart where the temp difference between pre and post ovulation phases is .8 to 1 degree throughout. In fact, I think women who are charting bbt for contraception would end up pregnant if they waited for a full degree shift to signal ovulation had occurred. I know alot of us have been using the TCOYF book and its sample charts as reference for charting bbts. The book says: "The standard thermal shift pattern clearly shows the range of low temperatures, followed by a distinct thermal shift of at least two-tenths of a degree, followed by a consistent range of high temperatures that remain until the end of that cycle." It also shows many sample charts, including pregnancy charts that follow this definition. Just wanting to post this other reference since I know alot of women are relying on the TCOYF bbt instruction. Please let us know if we're way off base — that's why we love this site and our beloved doctors here who answer our frequently redundant questions and soothe our fears....although I humbly submit that I have 3 children to vouch for a less than one degree temp shift... : )
