I have a bicornuate uterus. I have had a healthy first born boy in 1998, 3 weeks early. Then last year in December I lost a baby boy at 8 1/2 months pregnant. Although my OB at the time said it was placental abruption, the pathologist and other specialists and OB's that looked at the tests and reports said that they disagree. Some say that can't exactly say, but because it was knowledge that part of the placenta was attached to the septum and the baby only weighed 3lbs and 4ozs that it wasn't getting proper nutrition and I also was low on amniotic fluid. ANYHOW, my question is, I am going to a perinatologist in town (Dr. Brian Iriye) and he would like to be my OB as well. I really want to put my trust in him, but it's hard because I trusted my last Dr. and feel that she failed in noticing several red flags throughout the pregnancy. WHAT TYPE OF MONITORING SHOULD I EXPECT from this Dr. I believe the patient needs to be knowledgeable. I know he is experienced, but what as a patient should I look for to make sure that I am getting THE BEST CARE POSSIBLE!!! Should I rent a home fetal doppler? What tests should the Dr. be performing throughout my pregnancy!?
